Salted Caramel Banana Bread

Ingredients for Banana Bread:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 bananas, finely crushed (or 4 for extra moisture)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Ingredients for Salted Caramel Sauce:
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon sea salt
Preparation
Prepare Caramel Sauce:
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, swirling occasionally until a deep amber color forms.
Remove from heat, carefully whisk in heavy cream, vanilla, and sea salt. Let cool.
Prepare Banana Bread:
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and crushed bananas, mix well.
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to banana mixture, stir until just combined.
Assemble Bread:
Grease and flour a loaf pan. Fill pan halfway with banana bread batter.
Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter. Use a butter knife or toothpick to create swirls.
Add banana slices from one ripe banana.
Pour remaining batter on top, add more banana slices, and swirl in the rest of the caramel sauce.
Bake:
Bake for 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool before slicing.
